Public Scoping Meeting
You are invited to attend a City-wide Public Scoping Meeting on Thursday, February 17th at 6:00pm, at Saratoga Springs City Hall, 1307 North Commerce Drive. The purpose of the meeting is to provide City residents a face-to-face opportunity to help define the City’s parks, recreation, trails and open space system. This is your opportunity to let the planning team know how you feel about the needs for parks, recreation and trail facilities, and related issues that will affect your quality of life. The information received will be used by members of the Landmark Design Team, planning consultants who have been retained to help the City create this important plan. This is just the beginning of a five-month process with additional meetings and activities scheduled to take place regularly throughout the process. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact Jan Striefel at Landmark Design (801) 474-3300 or James McNulty, Saratoga Springs Planning Director (801) 766-9793. You can also use the contact for under "Public Involvement." The planning team is in the process of collecting existing relevant data, reviewing existing plans and documents, and conducting an inventory and evaluation of existing and proposed facilities and programs. Survey The planning team, with the guidance of the project management team, has been developing a survey about the development of parks, trails, recreation facilities, and the preservation of open space in the City of Saratoga Springs. Your input is a vital part of this planning process and will help us establish recreational priorities for years to come. Surveys will be arriving soon in the mail for all households in the City with a postage pre-paid envelope. Please return your responses by the date indicated in the survey. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and for your support of our wonderful community. Welcome
The City of Saratoga Springs has contracted with the Landmark Design team to create a City-wide Parks, Recreation, Trails and
Open Space Master Plan. The Plan will be comprehensive, addressing existing
conditions and future needs, priorities, hierarchies, level of service for
specific facilities and other components of a thorough and implementable Master
Plan. The Master Plan will include documentation, analysis and
assessment of the full range of parks, recreation, trails and open space
facilities, and will focus on a vision that will establish the City as a
unique destination location equal to the unique setting, beautiful shorelines
and sweeping landscapes and vistas.
In addition, the planning process will include an update of the Land Use Element of the existing General Plan. This will include revisions to established goals, objectives and policies, additional implementation measures that reflect the need for future parks, recreation, trail and open space facilities, and updating of maps and other land use policies to thoroughly reflect the changes and modifications. The planning process also includes a robust Public Involvement Plan consisting of management committee and public input meetings, and the preparation, administration, and analysis of a community needs survey. Coordination meetings with the concurrent planning for a 2,850 acre City Center District Area Plan are also part of this process. | City Website
