Herriman North Area Master Plan
Several years after the adoption of the first Master Plan for newly incorporated Herriman City, Landmark Design was hired to develop a Revised Master Plan for the fast-growing north section of the city. Working closely with a steering committee of property owners, politicians, city staff and others, a preferred plan emerged that reflected the significant changes which had taken place during the years since incorporation, and the need to balance higher residential densities with other land use needs. The plan blends Herriman's unique "sense of place" with the requirements of a growing and emerging urban area. The plan assesses the practicality and appropriateness of implementing open space buffers for maintaining a "sense of arrival", and the need to temper land use decisions with a desire to mitigate the negative effects of contaminated agricultural land. The plan also investigated numerous site alternatives for a future intermodal transit center, and suggested appropriate tools and techniques to maintain the positive aspects of rural life in a rapidly changing area.
