Herriman 2020 Plan - Amendment to the General Plan
The Herriman General Plan 2025 Amendment was adopted by the Planning Commission on December 19, 2013.
A Public Open House meeting was held at City Hall on Wednesday, August 28th to review the Draft Herriman General Plan 2025. Nearly sixty people attended the event, providing excellent comments and good critique of the draft, which was taken into consideration as the plan was refined and eventually finalized/adopted. The open house meeting included the presentation of a series of maps and boards outlining the key points of the draft plan. The attendees reviewed this material, asked questions and provided feedback both verbally and in written/email formats. A second Advisory Committee Meeting was held on Tuesday, July 16th to help refine the preferred planning direction. The meeting began with a presentation of two alternative concepts prepared by Landmark Design that addressed the visions of key property owners and provided layouts and land use options for the proposed annexation area north and west of the city, followed by a review of ideas that resulted from the recent public workshop (a copy of the presentation is available on the link to the right.) Committee members generally agreed on most ideas and input provided by the public, providing clear direction for the direction that the Draft Plan.
A public workshop was held on Wednesday, June 26th in order to help define future needs, issues, concerns and preferences for the city. The workshop began with a presentation of two alternative concepts prepared by Landmark Design that addressed the visions of key property owners and provided layouts and land use options for the proposed annexation area north and west of the city. Attendees then split up into three work groups, where they discussed options and developed new ideas and plans (see link to workshop notes under Public Meetings to the right). The workshop was one of several public meetings held as part of amending the existing Herriman General Plan, and was an important step in the planning process. Turnout was good, although there is always room for more people at our meetings.

Herriman City is a very different place today than it was just a few years ago. Rapid growth during much of the last decade, followed by a significant slowdown during the past few years provided an opportunity for the community to catch its breath and take stock of where it is headed. The Herriman 2020 Plan was adopted in 2009 to provide direction and vision for the future. However some of the details have since become outdated, others are missing, and new areas and projects have emerged which need to be incorporated into the plan.
The General Plan is a key tool for defining the vision of what the community wants to be and how it will get there over the next ten to twenty years. The document is used by the City’s planners, Planning Commission and City Council when making land use decisions and when establishing land use and budgetary priorities in the community.
