I-15 Corridor Study - Utah County
Landmark Design assessed pedestrian and bicycle linkages in Utah County, and the impact posed by upcoming improvements to Interstate 15 and extension of the FrontRunner rail system. Landmark’s efforts focused on maintaining north-south bicycle and pedestrian connections within county and municipal land, and the identification of impacts to east/west crossings of the corridors. Both the freeway and rail line were determined to be significant barriers between the two major recreational pedestrian/bicycle facilities in Utah County - Utah Lake west of I-15 and the Bonneville Shoreline trail system to the east - and between population centers on both sides of the freeway. The plan proposes a range of alternative design and programming modifications and mediation inputs to ensure reasonable continuity of walking, hiking and biking within the corridors. The project was completed in 2007.
