North Temple Boulevard/Transit Corridor Urban Design Manual
Landmark Design was part of a multi-disciplinary design team for the North Temple "Grand Boulevard" and TRAX North Temple/Airport project. In addition to being responsible for landscape development for the project, Landmark Design also assisted in the development of an Urban Design Manual for North Temple Boulevard. This document provides design direction for the public realm of streets, integrating transit and street design to create a memorable place.
Landmark Design's specific involvement included design of the landscape and irrigation systems in the public realm for both Salt Lake City and UTA. Construction documents were completed in 2011, and are n the process of being implemented. Landmark is currently providing construction administration services for the project, which is scheduled for completion early in 2013.
As an additional element of the project, Landmark Design also prepared design and construction documents for a small "Green Track" test area. This pilot project evaluates the viability of using a variety of plant materials and planting techniques within the track ballast area in order to create a more green and natural track. The plants were recently installed, and Landmark Design staff is monitoring the results as part of prepare a report of recommendations to UTA.
