Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center
Landmark Design serves on a multi-disciplinary team headed by ajc architects, which developed schematic, design development, and construction documents for the new research facility and visitor center at Mesa Verde National Park.
Specific firm responsibilities include landscape architecture and landscape restoration. Landmark Design staff worked closely with ajc architects to provide for a well thought-out visitor experience approaching the facilities, developed opportunities for interpretation outside the buildings and on adjacent interpretive trails, and completed landscape and revegetation design utilizing native plants derived from regional sources.
The design team is seeking LEED™ Platinum requirements for the building and landscape, and is documenting the project as part of the Sustainable Sites Initiative™ (SITES™) Pilot Program, which aims to create voluntary national guidelines and performance benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction and maintenance practices.
