Ogden Intermodal Transit Center
Landmark Design prepared a unique landscape design for the Ogden Intermodal Transit Center that links design the new intermodal site with the nearby historic Union Station, and forming a green and pedestrian-friendly place in the downtown Wall Street Business District in the process.
Utilizing a broad palette of trees, shrubs and other plant materials to reduce the scale of large parking and bus circulation areas, the design features the reuse of re-purposed cobbles and other construction demolition materials as sculptural berms and specialty paving zones. A sensory garden for sight-challenged users provides a place to smell and touch carefully-selected flowers and herbs, while also serving as an "outdoor training room" for students of the nearby Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind to practice navigation along city streets. Landmark Design was specifically responsible for the master planning, paving and fencing design, landscape design and irrigation design. The project was completed in 2002.
