Landmark Design developed the Salt Lake City International Airport Landside Landscape Master Plan. Conceptual alternative designs were developed and explored with the Salt Lake City Department of Airports.
Landmark Design first prepared a "Similar Facilities Report" which documented concepts and materials considered. This report drew on examples of landscape treatments that conserve water and create a regionally-appropriate landscape for the airport.
Landmark Design then prepared a "Irrigation Source Analysis Report" which documented various sources of water for irrigation, including culinary water, local and nearby secondary water sources, reclaimed water, and feasible water treatments for reclaimed water. This report evaluated the various sources based on criteria selected by the airport, including cost, availability, infrastructure needs, and others.
Landmark Design then developed the master plan, which was focused on regionalism
and water conservation utilizing native and adapted plant material, and approved
by the Airport Authority. We complete construction documents for the landscape,
and irrigation systems throughout the project including the entry drive and
experience, parking lots, passenger pick-up and drop-off areas, detention
basins, and fee collection areas. Landmark Design provided construction administration
services, met with the contractor and Airport administration regularly, and
closed-out the project Fall 2007.
