The Big Cottonwood Park Regional Park system consists of four closely located and interlinked park areas that serve the residents of the Millcreek Township, the City of Holladay, Salt Lake County and the region as a whole. Encompassing more than 185 acres in total, the four parks represent one of the largest open space areas in Salt Lake County. Each of the four park areas - Hillview Basin, Big Cottonwood, Holladay Lions and Creekside - are distinct and individual, yet intrinsically interlinked.
Over the past several decades the four parks have evolved into what they are today. Some park features are relatively new, while others are showing the results of age. Individual master plans have been prepared for the four parks, but are now out of date.
In order to address Big Cottonwood Regional Park in a comprehensive fashion, an integrated master plan is being prepared to guide future growth and development during the next ten years and beyond.
In addition to holding public meetings, focus groups have been consulted,
a questionnaire has been mailed to random households, and an advisory committee
convened to ensure that the future park meets user needs. It is expected that
a final master plan will be finalized by the end of summer.
