Landmark Design, in conjunction with Wikstrom Economic and Planning Consultants and Stantec, prepared a master plan for Bingham Junction, a 450-acre site formerly occupied by a mining processing plant. The project was the first of ten national (NEPA) pilot projects to be completed, with the intent of demonstrating how large-scale environmental cleanup projects can result in a usable end product. The master plan follows a set of sustainable design and development principles such as the preservation of one-third of the site for open space and the development of unique neighborhoods supported by alternative modes of transit, safe-streets and a pedestrian-friendly mixed-use development profile.
Landmark Design was specifically responsible for documenting existing site conditions, analyzing the physical characteristics of the site, developing alternative land use configurations, and fine-tuning these into a preferred plan, including urban design strategies.
