Landmark Design, in collaboration with a team of engineers and an artist, completed design and construction documents for City Creek Park, a project that returned City Creek back to the surface after decades of being buried underground. The project extends City Creek south from Memory Grove in the heart of Salt Lake City, to the corner of State Street and North Temple, where it terminates as an urban park that celebrates the creek environment and reestablishes City Creek as a focus to the downtown area and an integral component of the urban environment.

The design utilizes many native and adapted plant materials to recall natural environments in nearby City Creek Canyon. A connection with the rich history of the area is provided through the use of sandstone, river rock and other pioneer-era building materials and structural elements throughout the project.

Landmark Design's specific responsibilities included urban design, landscape architecture, irrigation design, grading and layout of pedestrian and site elements in collaboration with the prime contractor CH2M HILL and artist Stephen Goldsmith. The project required close coordination between the planning/design team and neighborhood residents, community councils, and city agencies.
