Landmark Design completed several master plans for various communities
in Utah. Each of the plans makes recommendations for additional parks, recreation
programs and facilities, and trail systems throughout the communities. The
work always involves working with a Steering Committee, several public meetings,
open houses with the community to gather input and to review alternatives
and ideas, and presentations to the Planning Commission and City Council.
In many cases, the recreation needs portion of the project is based on guidelines
originally developed by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA),
tailored to the specific needs, interests, desires, and resources of the community
involved.
To date, we have completed Recreation Master Plans for West Jordan, Smithfield,
Logan, and Sandy Cities; and have completed Recreation Elements of several
General or Comprehensive Planning efforts including those for Midvale, Taylorsville,
Woods Cross, South Ogden, West Jordan City, and Murray City. Our most recent
work has been with Sandy City. The map following illustrates existing park
categories (mini-parks, neighborhood parks, and community parks) and their
service areas, as well as proposed parks of various categories.
