Landmark Design was asked to look critically at Draper's 'pioneer settlement area' as a place to re-establish a center for the town and a focus for the community that is rooted in its social and cultural history and tradition. Landmark Design Inc., in conjunction with Burtch W. Beall, Jr. Architects, prepared a plan for this historic core of Draper. The plan proposes a unique set of tools for protecting existing structures, trees, historic sites, and open space that contribute to the unique character of the original settlement area of Draper. The plan also includes strategies and mechanisms to assure that future new development is compatible with older development patterns and design features, and focuses on development patterns for both residential and commercial development.

The planning process included extensive public input. Public scoping meetings, an open house, and plan development review by a 16-member management committee were key to formulation of the plan.
