The master plan will include a needs assessment and analysis, where faciliites and programs are categorized according to national standards and balanced with the community's desires and values, helping to determine any deficiencies or excesses now and into the future. The plan will also evaluate acquisition, construction, and maintenance costs, and provide funding information to assist with implementation.

The planning team developed a survey which was sent out as part of an extensive community participation process. In addition to meeting with the Steering Committee, the planning team has gathered input and ideas from the Parks, Recreation, and Trails Committee, and four focus groups targeting organized/team sports, non-organized recreation interests, Youth Council and other youth, and trail interests. Issues, concerns, and ideas were identified at a public scoping held in February 2008.

The draft plan has been completed, and is available for download on this page under Mapping and Draft Plan Documents. The Draft Plan was presented to the public at an Open House May 28, 2008.

The public will also have opportunity to comment at public hearings during the approval process.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2008.
