Landmark Design, in collaboration with ajc architects and Day Christensen
(visual artist), submitted winning designs for improvements in historic Julia
Davis Park in Boise, Idaho.
We were one of three teams invited to participate in the design competition,
and one of two successful teams. Our winning designs include a large picnic
shelter/restroom structure, new picnic shelters, renovated existing restrooms,
a new entry design at the footbridge that crosses the river and connects the
park to the Boise State University campus, and a River Walk that provides
for five different interpretive gathering spaces connected with a walkway
along the river's edge.
The jury was impressed with the integration of art, history, and landscape
into all elements of the design. We are very excited to actually implement
our designs, and to be working with the very dedicated people in Boise who
are planning the June 2007 celebration that marks the 100th anniversary of
Julia Davis Park.
