Landmark Design prepared the Memory Grove Concept Plan in early 1999. The Plan was commissioned in response to the devastation caused by a powerful tornado and years of neglect. The Concept Plan provides a framework for guiding changes and improvements to the park in light of development and budgetary priorities. That process identified the most compelling needs in the park, including stabilization of park hillsides, revegetation, developing linkages between monuments and surrounding neighborhoods, and the planting of new trees and other plantings to replace those damaged by the tornado.
The Memory Grove Concept Plan represents the first step for upgrading the park environment. The Plan was developed in response to the goals and desires established by a Steering Committee. The plan provides a holistic approach for organizing the many steps necessary to re-establish Memory Grove as a place of grandeur and a source of civic pride.
