Landmark Design, Salt Lake City, and Rotary Club joined forces to create a play area in Liberty Park that accommodates children of all abilities, and which celebrates Salt Lake City's 2002 Paralympic Games and its athletes. This unique area incorporates the ideals of the Paralympics and includes many unique features and elements, not found in any other playground in the City or the intermountain area. "Play Park" is a place where able-bodied persons and persons with varying abilities can share the joy and wonder of being together and having fun.

We worked closely with a Planning Group who represented Salt Lake City staff and administration; Rotary Club representatives; principals, teachers, and administrators from the Salt Lake City School District; parents; therapists; accessibility specialists; the design consultants and others with an interest in the play park and a commitment to accessibility.

The process included a "Design Fest" attended by over 200 persons. The Landmark Design team utilized input generated during Design Fest to create an overall layout of the play park and its many elements. The final design provides unparalleled access for children of all abilities and play levels.
