Saratoga Springs Marina Park Master Plan
_
Landmark Design headed the team that completed a master plan to establish a unified vision for this popular
and unique open space on the western shores of Utah Lake. The document establishes a plan for the 8.5-acre
Marina Park and the 11.5 acres of adjacent undeveloped City-owned property to
transform the park into a landmark destination.
The design builds on existing amenities, and includes a new jetty to the
north of the existing jetty, extended beach area and non-motorized watercraft
launch, a system of boardwalks, a Marina Village, a widened boat launch and
small power craft/ emergency boat launch, a community/educational center, a looping
trail system with pavilions and passive recreation activities, a playground,
and a native landscape demonstration garden.
The Master Plan is the result of a collaborative design process between the Landmark Design Team and a steering committee composed of City Staff, local residents, waster sport enthusiasts, and others. The design team conducted a Visual Preference Survey, an Economic Preference Survey, and a scoping session with the steering committee to guide the direction of concept development. The plan assesses the complementary mix of development, market demand, demographics and target markets attracted to marina-type sites; evaluates target markets, local demographics, regional population growth, tourism, and growth in the second-home market; and examines the relative fiscal benefits of each scenario for Saratoga Springs, including benefits from property tax, sales tax, franchise taxes, fees, ground leases, etc.
