Schematic Design Open House
The City of Saratoga Springs recently hired Landmark Design to oversee the design and construction process for Shay Park. The 10-acre park site is split by an abandoned elevated railroad grade that has been recognized as a historical feature, and which provides as obvious theme to guide park development.
You are invited to attend an Open House Meeting to review the Schematic Design of Shay Park on October 8th from 6-8pm. The Open House will be held in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, which is located at 1307 N. Commerce Dr. #200, Saratoga Springs, UT 84045.
Based in part on the comments and ideas we receive, we will revise the design so construction drawings can be prepared for bidding of the project by the end of the year. Construction is anticipated to commence in Spring 2015, with completion of Phase One by the end of the year.
You can contact project manager Mark Vlasic at Landmark Design via email with any questions or comments at shaypark@ldi ut.com, or call him at 801-474-3300.
The City of Saratoga Springs recently acquired a ten acre parcel for a Regional Park, known as Shay Park. The parcel is bifurcated by an abandoned elevated railroad grade that has been recognized as a historical feature, which provides as obvious theme to guide park development. In the earlier years the railroad grade accommodated Shay Engines which provided services for the Tintic mining district and local agriculture. “Shay Park” has become the name based on those engines. The railroad grade extends east to Redwood Road, through an undeveloped open space that will be used as a trail corridor, which should also be considered during the design process. The City feels these and other geographical characteristics will provide opportunities for a unique park.
The City of Saratoga Springs has identified the following as preliminary programming elements:
* Multi-purpose fields
* Play systems must keep children active and engaged
* Serve wide range of ages
* Railroad themes throughout
* Parking/storm water runoff
* Efficient LED lighting for the park, buildings and parking areas
