"Mark led the process of updating the General Plan for Vernal City. As I worked with him, I found him to be exceptionally knowledgeable about all aspects of land use planning and the process of creating and implementing General Plans. Additionally, he had the management and personal skills to coordinate the process effectively between the multiple companies doing specific segments of the plan. I give him my full recommendation." Vernal City General Plan Update
Landmark Design, in conjunction with InterPlan Company and other professionals completed an update of the Vernal City General Plan. The community has been impacted by cycles of “boom and bust” growth throughout its recent history, and the plan accesses the ability of the City to encourage stable growth and to provide urban services to a growing population base in a manner that is both sustainable and grounded in great city development concepts. The General Plan Update merges recent planning and technical studies with new assessments of key plan elements including land use; economics; infrastructure; and parks, recreation and trails. The planning process incorporated an extensive public involvement process developed and managed by Landmark Design. In addition to writing articles in the local newspaper and utilizing a steering committee representing the community, a series of open house meetings and “hands-on” workshops were utilized with residents, interest groups, and high school students to identify key planning issues and to review alternative planning ideas. The Plan was adopted in May 2010.
