PLEASANT GROVE GENERAL PLAN UPDATE (2021)
Pleasant Grove’s last General Plan was out of date and insufficient in meeting current needs. Landmark Design, together with Township + Range, crafted a new general plan that provides a clear vision for Pleasant Grove, targeting specific issues and focused areas as the city approaches buildout.
As part of the project, we developed a downtown revitalization concept and toolkit for Pleasant Grove’s historic downtown. The future concept acknowledges Historic Main Street as an important component of Downtown but offers a new path forward by leveraging adjacent areas as part of a larger, more complete and energized neighborhood. A new complete street corridor is proposed for 200 South to serve as a key east-west connector for active transportation and linking Downtown to other parts of the city. Other urban design changes include adjustments to street grids, and the introduction of new parks, plazas, greenways, and trails that will create a more people-friendly place and help establish Downtown as a singular district that is easy to access and navigate. The revitalization toolkit contains short and long-term revitalization strategies such as community events/programming, local business incentives, enhanced zoning ordinances, public spaces, streetscape improvements, and gateway improvements.
